Principal’s Report: It has been a great start to the year, with students engaged in learning. Seeing Year 7 students get their ‘bunsen burner licence’ brought back fond memories and I am sure many parents will remember going through this process in their first weeks at high school! We had another great swimming carnival and once again our staff’s organisation, under the leadership of Ms James made everything run smoothly. Well done, to all students who earned points for their houses.

From our Deputy (Years 8-12):Throughout the year, as in previous years, I will include an aspect of our Student Welfare and Discipline Policy in the newsletter. The first mention is our canteen voucher reward process.

From our Deputy (Year 7):The first three weeks are done and dusted and all Year 7 classes have settled into their routine. The year group appear to be a great bunch of kids and I am so very proud to call them mine. Thank you again to those parents who have taken the time to tell me about their child. Science in Focus: What a fun start we have had in Science at KMHS this year and we have certainly hit the ground running with experiments and inquiry learning activities. In the newsletter you will see some photos of students engaging in a variety of activities. Always a very exciting time as Year 7 students get their Bunsen burner licenses and learn laboratory safety.

Students will continue to be awarded for their positive contributions to learning in the classroom, with teachers asked to identify at least three students per day to whom to award positives…

The carnival was a great success with one of our highest participation numbers seen in many years.The students looked sensational in their house colours. The Year 12 students were once again in stand out costumes and competed well in their novelty races, as well as putting together a huge relay team to compete against the teachers.
